PANDA
Giant pandas are one of the world's most beloved animals, known for their distinctive black-and-white coloring. These gentle bears are native to China and spend 10-16 hours a day eating bamboo!
Despite being classified as carnivores, pandas have a diet that is 99% bamboo. They need to eat 12-38kg of bamboo daily to get enough nutrients because their digestive system isn't very efficient at breaking down plant material. They use their powerful jaws and teeth to crush tough bamboo stalks.
Pandas were once endangered, but conservation efforts have helped their population recover. Their signature black eye patches and ears aren't just cute - they may help pandas recognize each other and perhaps intimidate predators!
