LION

Known as the "King of the Jungle," lions are the only truly social cats, living in family groups called prides. A pride typically consists of related females, their cubs, and a small number of adult males.

Male lions are famous for their magnificent manes, which make them look larger to rivals and protect their neck during fights. The mane gets darker as the lion ages - a darker mane indicates higher testosterone levels!

Lions are apex predators, with females doing most of the hunting while males guard the territory. They can eat up to 25kg of meat in a single meal and spend about 20 hours per day resting and sleeping.

📍 WHERE WILL YOU FIND THEM

You will find our lion pride at pen L5, near the big cat enclosure. Visit during feeding time at 11:30am to see them at their most active!
