GORILLA

Gorillas are our closest living relatives after chimpanzees, sharing about 98% of our DNA! These gentle giants live in family groups led by a dominant silverback male who protects and guides his troop.

Despite their intimidating size, gorillas are primarily herbivores, spending most of their day eating leaves, stems, fruit, and bamboo shoots. An adult male can eat up to 30kg of vegetation daily!

Gorillas are highly intelligent animals known to use tools and communicate with over 25 different vocalizations. They build new nests each night to sleep in, either on the ground or in trees.

Conservation note: Gorillas are endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. Your visit helps support our conservation efforts!

📍 WHERE WILL YOU FIND THEM

You will find the gorillas at pen G12, near the primate enclosure. Our keeper talks happen at 10:00am and 2:00pm daily.
